Women in the Outdoors Expedition

From March 29 to 31, 2024, no testosterone beyond feminine levels will be allowed near our Island for three days and two nights as Ghana’s leading women take on the Akwamu area on a mentally intense adventure that starts with a scenic hike up the Akwamu Gorge Forest Hills, a moderately challenging mountain hike at 200m. The peak overlooks the Adomi Bridge and the Islands of Atimpoku in River Volta.

Good Friday afternoon will be spent abseiling the vertigo-inducing 100-ft Vulcan Rock, and the night will be spent in tents on our terraces overlooking the river. Dinner will be served on a night cruise to the iconic Adomi bridge in the evening.

A visit to the palace of His Majesty, the Akwamu Hene will occur in the morning of Saturday, March 30, and kayaking adventures, including the famous capsize drills, will occur on the river in the afternoon. Saturday is also when experts will discuss issues affecting women leaders and outdoor class sessions that range from leadership, through a tolerance for uncertainty and adversity, to expedition behaviour that has metaphorical significance for home and family as well as career life. A bonfire night will crown an amazing day.

The Women in the Outdoors expedition requires an appreciable sense of adventure and costs 2,000-GHS/adult and 1,700-GHS/child. Participants who require transportation may pay an extra 500-GHS in addition.

The adventure will continue on Sunday when an epic paintball battle will occur between teams responsible for defending their flag while capturing those of their opponents.

Payment to participate in the Women in the Outdoors Expedition can be made on our online payment portal.

For Adventurers who require return transportation, the bus departure is scheduled for 7 a.m. from the Accra Mall for conveyance to the Trident Island, and the extra GHS-500 can be paid in cash at the pick up point.
