This mountaineering expedition explores the highest mountains in the Akwapim-Togo-Buem Ranges beginning from the foot of Afadjato. Adventurers will travel from the Accra Mall at 7 p.m. on June 28 to Soba, a village at the foot of Afadjato, to camp out under the stars. Day 2 on the expedition begins with the assault of Afadjato, Ghana’s highest mountain. The team will continue onwards from the summit into the Togolese Highlands and through some Togolese farming villages on Ghana’s invisible border to heights of some 1000m, expected to last a total of seven hours through those imposing mountains. We’ll camp at Wli Todzi, the last Ghanaian village in the Togolese highlands located several hours’ hike above the Wli waterfalls.
This expedition requires an appreciable level of fitness due to the steep ascents and tedious descents that characterize the Togolese highlands. Adventurers must brace for extreme heat and cold weather, and long hours of walking. All food, water, and essentials relevant to the expedition team’s success will be carried in backpacks.
Day 3: We will engage the Agumatsa ranges on a three-hour hike, and complete the expedition by a sharp descent to the Upper and the Lower Falls, wash off all the dirt, touch the waterfall curtain in style and drive back to Accra for an all-inclusive (tents, transport, food, water, photography and guiding services) price of GHS-3,000 only.
